Marin IJ Tails of Marin: How to help Marin’s feral cats live better lives

September 10 & 11 2011

Bay Area Pet Fair, Civic Center San Rafael

Marin Friends of Ferals will have a booth. We’ll be selling pet beds, cat toys and of course our Human Cat Hats.

July 16th & 17th 2011

Our next pet bed sale will be at the annual San Anselmo Art and Wine Festival. We hope you’ll attend this entertaining event, not just so you can sample tasty wines and view creative artwork, but so you can conveniently swing by our booth and pick up something for your kitty or doggie. Does she need a cozy new bed? How about a soft blanket, some cat toys, a litter box or scratching post? All our  products are sold at tremendous discounts and benefit Marin’s feral and homeless cats. You can find us at 705 San Anselmo Ave. in the driveway across from the Orchid Thai restaurant, 3 doors away from the Fire department. We look forward to seeing you there!

First ever NorCal Pet Food Bank distribution aids 24 animal organizations

The Marin Humane Society, was the site for the first ever Northern California Pet Food Bank Distribution last Sunday. In just under three hours, 38 pallets of donated pet food were distributed to 24 local animal shelters and rescues.

The effort was part of The National Pet Food Bank program. Since 2008, The National Pet Food Bank has distributed more than 2 million pounds of donated cat and dog food to animal organizations nationwide.

Participating organizations pay a delivery charge ($60/pallet) in exchange for donated pet food. The Marin Humane Society in partnership with Marin Friends of Ferals, will act as the ongoing distribution site for Northern California. Based on local demand, food deliveries may occur as often as on a monthly basis.

For more information, a complete list of participants and to register with the Pet Food Bank, visit NationalPetFoodBank.com.

Photo and story taken from the Ark, local Tiburon newspaper.

Ben and Chris of Tiburon built a winter cat shelter for Marin Friends of Ferals. The shelter is already in use by Frank, a feral we recently trapped and he’s enjoying his new house. Which Ben autographed, welcoming all kitties.
