Santa Rosa Cat Show Here We Come!

Marin Friends of Ferals will once again have a booth (#20) at the annual Santa Rosa Cat Show on Saturday, February 11 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday February 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We have lots of new pet beds, tons of great cat and dog toys, blankets and scratching posts, along with our popular hand knitted cat-ear hats (for humans!), all at ridiculously low prices.

Cost of admission is only $5 for adults and $3 for kids ages 6-12. The address is 1350 Bennett Valley Road, Santa Rosa. Directions: From Hwy 101, exit Hwy 12 at the Sebastopol/Sonoma off ramp. Go east toward Sonoma. Exit Hwy. 12 at South E St. Downtown (first exit). Continue straight. This is Bennett Valley Road. The pavilion is the large pinkish building on the right. We hope to see you there!

Heart of Marin Award

MFF is honored to announce we have been nominated by the Marin Humane Society for the 2011 Heart of Marin Award, given by the Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership. The award recognizes outstanding Marin nonprofit organizations, their leaders and the volunteers who work with them. At the January 5th luncheon held at the Marin Civic Center Exhibition Hall, winners receive $5000 and $1000 awards. As a relatively new and very small nonprofit, our chances of winning are slim; yet we’re very proud that the Marin Humane Society values our contributions toward ferals as worthy of being nominated. As they say at the Academy Awards, it’s just an honor being nominated!

National Feral Cat Day Oct 16th

October 16th has been recognized as National Feral Cat Day. However , everyday is feral cat day to groups like ours.

Become involved by ensuring all feral cats are spayed/neutered.

Volunteer to feed a colony near you.

Donate food or monetarily to support our mission.

Foster kittens that have a chance to be adopted.

We will have a table of information set up at the Marin Humane Society on Oct. 16th.

Pet Fair

We had a wonderful time at the Pet Food Express Pet Fair! It was such a successful event and so many great animals found new homes. We still have our 5 month old kitten Sadie up for adoption – please contact us if you are interested in meeting her.

Pet Food Bank

First ever NorCal Pet Food Bank distribution aids 24 animal organizations

The Marin Humane Society, was the site for the first ever Northern California Pet Food Bank Distribution last Sunday. In just under three hours, 38 pallets of donated pet food were distributed to 24 local animal shelters and rescues.

The effort was part of The National Pet Food Bank program. Since 2008, The National Pet Food Bank has distributed more than 2 million pounds of donated cat and dog food to animal organizations nationwide.

Participating organizations pay a delivery charge ($60/pallet) in exchange for donated pet food. The Marin Humane Society in partnership with Marin Friends of Ferals, will act as the ongoing distribution site for Northern California. Based on local demand, food deliveries may occur as often as on a monthly basis.
